718 West Moreland Street in the F.Q. Story Historic District: Is it a Frank B. Wallace original?

This home is what might be described as a "pre-furb." It is a 1931 classic that will certainly be refurbished, but that hasn't happened yet. You can see the home in happier days in our catalog of homes in F.Q. Story.

It captured my interest for a couple of reasons.

First, virtually all of the fixtures and hardware are original. It's plausible much of this will be replaced when the the home is restored, so we wanted to document those things while they're still there.

And second, from the moment I first entered this home, it spoke to me again and again of the influence of seminal Phoenix home-builder Frank B. Wallace. I believe Wallace built this house, but, if he did not, then the builders borrowed many of the ideas that Wallace pioneered.

At the time that I write this, early April of 2008, the home is being offered for sale by Jeff Gary of the Principal Residential Group. I made this web site and a corresponding weblog entry with his permission.
