Could this be a movie for Bloodhounds everywhere?
I know that just about everyone who reads here at BHB has read Ayn Rand and has their opinions on whether she was a brilliant author. I personally find her works Anthem, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged to be some of the most enjoyable reading that I get to partake of. I seem to always be reading one of these at any given time.
For many years there have been discussions of how to best bring Atlas Shrugged to the big screen. On April 15th. 2011 the first installment of the book will be released for all of us to watch. Could this be a movie that will inspire everyone? I know that it is a very tall order to bring a work of such magnitude to the masses. I for one will be watching it on opening night. Right after I have mailed my annual documentation to the looters who are taking more and more from me and always wanting more. I love the fact that the movie is opening on Tax Day. The only other day I can think that might have been more fitting was Independence Day.

I’ll see it. I don’t care if it’s terrible. I’m too big an Ayn Rand fan not to. The fountainhead was made into a movie in the 50’s? It didn’t really translate, but that’s much like the work themselves. I find that people either feel that the books “speak” to them, and call them to maximize their potential, or they just don’t get it. Also see, “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance”.

I just watched the trailer for a second time — and I’m glad I did. I liked it much better this time. Henry Rearden has always been my favorite character in Atlas Shrugged, and I like the feel of the actor playing him.
You win, Scott. I’ve dreaded this since I first read the book in 1979, but now I’m actually looking forward to seeing the film.

@Matt I don’t think it will be terrible. I don’t feel it can live up to the book yet, I think it will be an enjoyable movie. I have not been to a movie in over 5 years. None of the special effects driven titles catch my eye. I wonder if popcorn is still expensive in the theater?
@Wayne Indeed but in my following of the movie online I get the impression that they have taken the task very seriously.
@Greg I too like the feel of the actors playing the roles that we have seen in this trailer and in other stills available. I am looking forward to hearing our thoughts on the movie after we have all seen it.
