There’s always something to howl about

FlexMLS is coming to Phoenix!

This is strictly local news, but I can’t stop myself from rejoicing:

FlexMLS is replacing Tempo as the web-based MLS system for the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing System.

What this means is that Michael Wurzer, whom we all know and revere, has volunteered to be devoured by savage Bloodhounds.

No, that’s not it. What it means is that we are about to get an MLS vendor who is willing to listen to us, and who very earnestly wants to do his very best — not just because it will mean more business for his company but simply because he is internally committed to doing his very best.

To this, there is but one word that expresses the proper reaction: Hallelujah!

The Epicentrics are already talking about building a group blog for this transition, so that we can help take away the fear of change as well as explore all the exciting new capabilities we stand to gain.

Michael plans to blog the transition from FBS Blog, and I know Cathy, Russell and I will be talking about it here. I can’t see Jay or Jonathan holding their tongues. This could be the most-blogged-about software installation in the history of wired real estate.

My response to Michael’s post this morning: “NOW I’m interested in being involved.”

      There’s a problem with Tempo? Huh. I wasn’t aware. :)

I don’t really have the vocabulary to express how FREAKING EXCITED I AM ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!

The Austin Board is changing MLS systems from Tempo to MLXChange. I never saw Tempo as a problem and will really miss the Client Gateway. I don’t know about the program you are changing to, but the MLXChange isn’t very intuitive. Anyone not using the new system yet is in trouble as Tempo goes away in a month. That probably makes me ahead o fmost agents in the area.

Thanks for the post, Greg! We’re very excited about this opportunity, and look forward to working with you and the other Bloodhounds to make the system work for you. We’ll be ramping up the conversion over the next 60-90 days and will then be able to get you all a fuller look at what’s coming. I love the idea of the group blog for the transition.

      Sam,

I just wrote a blog entry on MLXChange and overall it’s a great piece of software, albeit dumbed down, but you can only use Internet Explorer (Windows based Internet Explorer at that) to access it. For that reason alone I wish for FlexMLS to come some day. I’m a Mac user and MLXChange makes my life difficult every time I need to access the MLS. I did install Parallels which makes the process a bit less complicated but the MLXChange software is still a regression in MLS software imo.

I recently went through the Flex MLS training and WOW! This is like going from horse-drawn carriage to a Ferrari! FINALLY!

It sounds like there have been a few problems with it since they switch over. Mainly speed problems but I have heard of others too. ARMLS will be conducting some training classes at the ARMLS Tech Fair as well. Its on August 21st and 22nd at the Monterra at Westworld in Scottsdale. There will be a lot of vendors their and 2 days of flexMLS training. All active agents should be there to see the new technology in real estate and get some training on the new system.
