We’re adding a new contributor today, real estate broker and weblogger without equal, Mike Farmer:
The mythic city of Savannah is home to Mike Farmer, a commercial and residential real estate broker. Mike puts an emphasis on buyer agency, but there is a part of the man that lives simply to write.
Jay Thompson tipped me to Mike’s appreciable talents. I read his work, nominated him for The Odysseus Medal, then invited him to join us.
That’s twenty-five, but I’m not done yet. When will I be finished? When there’s nothing left to be said. It could take a while…

A little known fact about bloodhounds is:
The leading cause of death in Bloodhounds is Gastric Dilatation Volvulus, commonly referred to as “bloat”.
Though, reading through many of the posts here, I’d say no one here is in danger of dying from bloat. Great writing. I’ll try to not bloat.

Indeed. When Cathy feeds Odysseus, she holds his bowl for him to keep his GI tract at a better angle. Normal dogs are aligned on the horizontal. They can eat anything, because it’s very easy for them to regurgitate, Bloodhounds and some other deep-chested breeds are aligned more like horses, so they’re much more at risk to bloat, food poisoning, etc.

Those of us who have been enjoying Mike’s posts for a while have been encouraging him to take this leap for a long time! It is not surprising that he is already experiencing such success with this new venture. He is fearless, knowledgeable, humorous, and yes, a deep thinker.
