As of now, this is what I get there:

Pretty scary. I hope Dusting can reclaim it.

On the positive side, being hacked means they’ve hit the big time :-)

This is me from a comment to another message:

Ardell and Robbie are aware of it. I haven’t heard about it from Dustin or Galen.

The mostly likely culprit is a straight hack: The vandals penetrated the file server and replaced the index.php page with their own version. Alternatively, they may have hacked the DNS server to make raincityguide.com point to a different IP address. Either way, this should be easily correctable by RCG’s ISP once they know about it. Ardell wondered about possible virus consequences, which seems unlikely, but Robbie pointed out that HTML potentially can be malicious, so it’s probably better not to play with fire. I have a web archive of the site as it stands right now and I see nothing hostile — nor even clever — in it, for what that’s worth.

That is really too bad. There is no excuse for that or any other kind of cyber terrorism. I’m really sorry to see something like that happen to good people.

Bummer. While in Chicago, I still need my daily fix of Rain City. Hope all can be resolved.

It’s a shame that this has happened, but it is validation (in some weird world) for RCG’s influence that 1) they’ve been hacked and 2) so many know about it. Odd.

Dustin’s working on it now. I feel like I’m at the bedside waiting to find out if there’s going to be a funeral.
