Did you ever wonder why Bill Gates doesn’t have any children? It’s because he found a secret incantation by which, having named his company after his pet name for his most private appendage, he succeeded in making schmucks of us all. Top that, Steve Jobs!
Just when you thought you were about to escape into the cloud, Bill Gates has his revenge: There is a bug in Microsoft Internet Explorer that causes it to issue juicy error messages to some users of WordPress 2.6.
No fix but Firefox, so far — or a Macintosh, of course. Your mileage may vary, but if you see the words “Operation Aborted,” you might issue a little incantation of your own…

Wow… you’ve outdone yourself in crassness. Congratulations are not in order. And to top it off you’re plain wrong on all accounts, apparently.
1) Bill and Melinda Gates have three children. Did you even bother to check that or did you just think the rude comment was worth saying anyways?
2) The issue could involve plugin conflicts or something else and is not necessarily IE related. (though I can’t say for sure since I’m still using good old reliable 2.32 and all my happy working plugins).
Please stick to real estate issues and get off the windows/ms bashing. Better yet, when you have nothing to say then get off the computer and go play outside. You do not have to post every day.
I’ve been getting that ‘operation aborted’ error meessage the last couple of days. I’m not using WordPress, but that message pops up on some things I do when using IE. I can’t figure out what’s causing that to come up, nor can I figure out the common denominator of things I’m working on when it happens.
It is a pain to deal with. I have found the back button brings back what I was doing, but I don’t like having to do that each time it happens.
This is only one of a slew of errors/issues I have had since upgrading to WP 2.6 from 2.5.1. IE 7 and FF 3 both have issues, though not the same. Just a few I have discovered.
Most of the comment are for IE with notes for FF:
1. The photos aways left justify in the post even though they show up as center in the edit.
2. If you try to move the photos around in the edit text, it screws it up.
3. When you try to remove the extra spacing above and below photos and you get your text too close to the photos, it will changed to font of the text to the font of photo caption if you added one. LEAVE THE EXTRA SPACING IN AND IT WORKS OK.
4. When using bullet points, they show up in the edit text but not on the post. In FF the show up in the post text but are not indented.
I could go on but you can sense wher I am at, POed!**xx##??

Everything you have mentioned has to do with WP 2.6 and not the browswers themselves.
The way they handle images has changed and they seemed to have forgotten to mention to most users and theme authors they will need to update the CSS styles to handle images in 2.6
The easiest way to do this is find the CSS style file in the default theme and copy image handling routines to your theme’s CSS Style sheet.
There is a post at the Real Estate Blog Lab outlining this issue with images.
The list issue is also one of your theme’s CSS and not the browsers. WP Strikes again.

I just found this above post today figuring you may have already written about the “Operation Aborted” problem with WordPress and IE. I tried to post a few times this week on BHB but keep getting kicked out with the ‘Op Aborted’ message when I begin to write. My other WordPress site, Geno From Chicago, is working fine. What to do? I’ve been swamped for a few weeks and can only find some odd times to write.
Firefox is the only fix I know of for now.
Very sorry. We miss you.
This is also why I am inclined to be wary of WordPress. Too many stories of people’s blogs fritzing out when they update. It doesn’t really seem necessary.
Greg, got it to work w/Firefox! Something will be coming from me soon unless I, of course, “have nothing to say” and I’m “outside playing”… (like anyone wants to go out and play in that desert heat. I’d rather be rebuked on my own blog by someone who doesn’t me or anyone in the Gates family.)
