There’s always something to howl about

Free IDX from Realtor.Com!

In response to the juicy IDX discussion going on over at Agent Genius, I figured I’d take a stab at misappropriating some property data featured over at Realtor.Com.

After 10 minutes, I had 100 of the latest Indianapolis properties listed for sale posted to my website and indexable by google.

Here’s a look at the results: Retechulous.com/Category/NAR-BLOWS

If you have a minute, check out the article over at AG and if you can find a way to get involved, please do so. I guess you could say this little scraping stunt is me contributing in my own obnoxious way. That, and I’m also now looking for a non-NAR Pa broker to hang my license with….

Thanks for posting this Ryan, I don’t read Agent Genius to often. Not because it is a bad real estate blog or anything, just that there is only so much time to be reading blogs -vs- actually selling real estate and making a living.

I have to say that we all should be encouraging web savvy Realtors to take possitions on their local MLS boards so that forward thinking people will at least have a voice in the decisions that are made which effect us all.

      James,

I guess that’s a better way to approach the problem than my knee-jerk “I’m ditching NAR” reaction :)

Ryan - Point made! I wonder what my local board would think now, if I could get them to listen to reason.

Good luck finding a new broker!

Why not get your Broker’s license? You won’t regret it.

Rules always lead to more rules. One person figures out how to break the rule and gets punished for having a brain. But someone else figures out how to violate the spirit of the rule without actually breaking it, and this results in a newer, even-stupider rule. This way, everyone is punished for having a brain. The purpose of every rule deemed malum prohibitum — “wrong” only because the action is forbidden by the rule — is to outlaw the proper functioning of the human mind.

Jay, I think you’re right. And GS of course has been saying the same thing to us all for a while.

Plus…I liked James’s proposed approach from above. Why not become more involved and change things from within instead of bitching and quitting :)

Will likely hang with the local remax for a year or so while picking up those broker credits…
