DocuSign may be the best friend Realtors have ever had

Okay, so all the Realtors know that short sales are like a jack-in-the-box: You crank and crank for weeks or months and nothing happens, then everything pops all at once.
Happened to me today, with the Sphinx-link bank suddenly lurching to life in order to issue two must-rush-now documents that reiterate terms my buyers have already agreed to.
That doesn’t matter. Must-rush-now! Must-have-today! Must return to hibernating state no later than 5 pm.
So Mom is at home and Dad’s at work — and both of them are 35 miles away from me.
We could trade faxes, but the originals are already barely readable.
But: No worries: We’ve got DocuSign on our side.
I set up the whole workflow: I sign, Mom signs, Dad signs — and then the whole package goes back to the lister, all untouched by human hands.
Note that I set everything up so that I could leave if I needed to, once I had signed, and the rest of the job would percolate through the ether on its own. I love this feature, since I no longer have to nurse documents.
But, as it works out, the whole job, Tinkers to Evers to Chance, was done in seven minutes flat.
I plan to write more about DocuSign when I have more time, but for now: If you don’t have DocuSign, get it. Your time is your money, and, in consequence, this is some of the best money you will ever spend.
And now the bank can roll over and go back to sleep…
P.S.: Just got confirmation that the lister has the documents. Twenty-two minutes total.

I have used Docusign for three years, and couldn’t do without it. Most of my clients are vacation home buyers who go home before they make a decision. Even if initial docs are done while here, many more done after they go home.
However, you might want to go to their site if you didn’t get their email and help Docusign in their email campaign to FHA/HUD Commissioners.
It seems that some lenders are destroying closings at the last minute when they see electronic sigs, and saying that, though legal, they don’t see anything in writing from HUD/FHA that they can be used. They demand wet sigs. Email campaign in full swing to get that fixed…we hope. Yet another fallout factor from the previous excesses.

Docusign is ultra cool, but it does have limitations where a tablet pc is still needed. However is Greg’s situation, it doesn’t get any better than that! Greg can get documents signed faster that a hyena eating a water buffalo. Yes docusign is awesome, nicely put Greg.

I’m confused by your comment. Do you mean that, when using a Tablet PC there are limitations? As I don’t have or need a Tablet to transact my deals with remote clients and get signatures.

I am going to look into purchasing this. There are so many instances where documents are illegible due to faxing and looks like with Docusign you will get a much more professional clean copy of the contract. Thanks for the info.

Dan, in addition to the time savings referenced by Greg, “clean” legible documents are another reason why people love DocuSign electronic signature. You also never miss a signature, since every initial and signature requested must be e-signed before the documents can proceed through the workflow.

We have been using DocuSign on most transactions this year and it is terrific! No more blurry contracts that have been through 5 fax machines.
Is anyone here using ctmEcontracts? It seems to be rapidly gaining popularity in my market, and works wonders.
Seems to be a similar product, but geared towards real estate. Would be interested to see how the two compare.
