Laundry Room and Front Hallways

This whole section of the house, the Living Room, the Den/Office/Front Bedroom, the Front Bathroom and this hallway leading to the Laundry Room and the Back Bedrooms – all of these rooms are built on a concrete slab. By 1938, slab would be common in Phoenix, but in 1931, when this home was built, slab was a radical innovation. The Dining Room, Kitchen, Breakfast Room and Bedrooms are all built on foundation, which was the accepted practice in the early 1930's. The two together create a startling effect.
