There roughly 50 days left this year, depending on when I get this post done.\u00a0 About 14% of the year left.\u00a0 And, really, truly, a lot of people take it down a notch after Halloween.\u00a0 Or three notches.\u00a0 Because the presumption is that nobody buys in the winter.<\/p>\n

Look at the NAR monthly numbers: every year, December and January are only 8% off from August and September in the housing industry.\u00a0 2008 is an outlier. Probably still time to do one of 2 things: crank 2 transactions out of this year or have an amazing January, or both.\u00a0 But “shutting it down,” and waiting, and coming into the office in the role of listless mope in adult failure spiral.\u00a0 If you are going to fail, stay home and don’t infect the office.<\/p>\n

But that’s not really the point of this post.\u00a0 The point comes from a tawlk with Bawld Guy I had last night.\u00a0 He pointed out that a blog was well intentioned but had vague unactionable advice.\u00a0 I see it too.\u00a0 Because being told to “work harder, and be careful” is the sole substance of most of the Social Media, or Investing advice you see these days.\u00a0\u00a0 “Connect more, be authentic and transparent, and use common frolicking sense.”\u00a0 And then wait <\/em>and you’ll get to join the Twitterati.\u00a0 Buncha crap.<\/p>\n

That’s the rub, nobody gets really specific about what “works” and what doesn’t work.\u00a0\u00a0 A lot of this you have to learn on your own.\u00a0 What works for Brian Brady may not work for Greg Swann.\u00a0 You have to create your own system.\u00a0 Try things\u00a0 and go to what you are good at. The key part of the equation.\u00a0 From Always Be Testing (my new Scriptures):<\/p>\n

  2. It’s Not OK to Assume<\/li>\n
  3. What Works For Them Doesn’t (necessarily) work for me.<\/li>\n
  4. There’s always room to improve<\/li>\n
  5. There are no sacred cows.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
