{"id":11391,"date":"2010-03-02T11:40:02","date_gmt":"2010-03-02T18:40:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=11391"},"modified":"2010-03-02T11:40:02","modified_gmt":"2010-03-02T18:40:02","slug":"dawn-in-america-part-3-can-we-educate-the-masses-for-profit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/11391\/dawn-in-america-part-3-can-we-educate-the-masses-for-profit\/","title":{"rendered":"Dawn In America- Part 3-Can We Educate the Masses (For Profit?)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Information can be a glow in the\u00a0 darkness.<\/strong> <a title=\"traditional education models\" href=\"http:\/\/etcweb.princeton.edu\/CampusWWW\/Companion\/ivy_league.html\">Traditional higher education models<\/a> are losing market share to <a title=\"education delivery systems\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bestcollegesonline.com\/\">cheaper education delivery systems<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Young people now have the opportunity to<a title=\"online education\" href=\"http:\/\/ecorner.stanford.edu\/podcasts.html\"> learn the very same principles for free<\/a> that are <a title=\"mbas\" href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/bschools\/96\/top25\/stanford\/complete.htm\">taught to the people they may eventually hire<\/a> to run their businesses.\u00a0 I think this free market trend will eventually overtake the traditional post-secondary education models.\u00a0 I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised to find a fully-funded college education available, competitive with some of the best traditional colleges, in the not-too-distant future.<\/p>\n<p>I can see a future where the ultimate end-users of that education (private industry),\u00a0 see the benefit to developing accredited curricula, and offering them to current and potential employees, at a greatly reduced cost (maybe for free).\u00a0 I&#8217;m not just talking about an MBA from &#8220;<em>Mutual of Omaha University<\/em>&#8220;.\u00a0 Think &#8220;<em>University of the <a title=\"american way\" href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/magazine\/article\/0,9171,947314,00.html\">American Way<\/a><\/em>&#8220;, delivering bachelor&#8217;s degrees to the masses- graduates might receive checks from the alumni association rather than sending checks to it.<\/p>\n<p>Education via extension isn&#8217;t a new idea.\u00a0 <a title=\"University of Maryland\" href=\"http:\/\/military.umuc.edu\/\">This ACC school <\/a>has been granting degrees, to off-campus students, since the 1940s.\u00a0 Online education is now a <a title=\"education connection\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WYS5NtRXlZQ\">pop culture phenomenon<\/a>. <strong>If this educational delivery system grows like I think it will, how can the real estate brokerage or mortgage lending communities profit?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The idea that education can get cheaper (moving towards free) and more readily available will be an irreversible trend.\u00a0 No longer can we hide behind the phrase &#8220;proprietary information&#8221; or &#8220;specialized knowledge&#8221;.\u00a0 Consumers may educate themselves about <a title=\"how to get a VA complex approved\" href=\"http:\/\/activerain.com\/blogsview\/1393215\/three-tips-for-faster-va-condo-approvals-\">how to get a VA condo complex approved<\/a> and find that my &#8220;specific knowledge&#8221;, while helpful, doesn&#8217;t permit me to charge a one point premium to my lesser educated competitors.\u00a0 My specific expertise DOES drastically reduce my marketing costs, allowing me to retain more profit than my competitors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Information can be exported inexpensively.<\/strong> Imagine holding a webinar online, explaining the benefits of owning a Costa Rican vacation property, to German pharmaceutical executives.\u00a0 Then, imagine holding a different webinar, to a group of retired Americans in Costa Rica, about investing in mortgages so that those Germans could borrow their money and buy from those properties.\u00a0 Would that add <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/11391\/dawn-in-america-part-3-can-we-educate-the-masses-for-profit\/#more-11391\" class=\"more-link\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Information can be a glow in the\u00a0 darkness.
