{"id":12890,"date":"2010-08-11T17:46:08","date_gmt":"2010-08-12T00:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=12890"},"modified":"2010-08-11T17:46:08","modified_gmt":"2010-08-12T00:46:08","slug":"sometimes-ya-just-gotta-say-wtf-nutsville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/12890\/sometimes-ya-just-gotta-say-wtf-nutsville\/","title":{"rendered":"Sometimes ya just gotta say, &#8220;WTF-nutsville?&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Obama Adminstration&#8217;s henchmen are whining about the proliferation of new media ,<a title=\"vanity fair\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/online\/daily\/2010\/08\/can-washington-be-fixed.html\"> in a Vanity Fair article<\/a> and I just couldn&#8217;t resist poking some fun at the irony of their complaints and the foreshadowing of the &#8220;perfect business&#8221; in an economy they &#8220;design&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>First, they bitch about the stamina required to work in the West Wing:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere\u2019s a relentlessness to this that\u2019s unlike anything else,  especially when you come into office in a time of crisis,\u201d says Obama  senior adviser David Axelrod. \u201cWe did not exactly ease into the tub. The  world is so much smaller, and events reverberate much more quickly, and  one person can create an event so quickly from one computer terminal.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a title=\"state hates the internet\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LUYBqHZKSSk\">The State hates the internet<\/a>; we all know that.\u00a0 Rather than ignore the brays of\u00a0 pajama-wearing boys, blogging in their parents&#8217; basements, they long for a more genial, controlled speech:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Emanuel calls it \u201cF****nutsville,\u201d and Valerie Jarrett says she looks  back wistfully to a time when credible people could put a stamp of  reliability on information and opinion: \u201cWalter Cronkite would get on  and say the truth, and people believed the media,\u201d she says.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Maybe,\u00a0 just maybe, these people in The West Wing are&#8230;<em>old<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Not old\u00a0 in chronological age but definitely in hipness.\u00a0 Despite the <a title=\"yes we can\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jjXyqcx-mYY\">hip-hoppity nature of the campaign<\/a> and <a title=\"blackberry\" href=\"http:\/\/crackberry.com\/president-obama-still-using-his-blackberry-now\">his addiction to Blackberry<\/a>, the President thinks <a title=\"iPhones\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2010\/05\/09\/obama-ipad-xbox-turn-info_n_569289.html\">young people need to turn off their iPhones<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 The President doesn&#8217;t sound so hip anymore.\u00a0 He sounds like a <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through\">humbug<\/span> father of two tween daughters.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s just a philosophical desire to be in control of everything, including the choices consumers make.\u00a0 Forget the health insurance hijack or the nationalization of the residential real estate finance industry, the West Wing Big Dawgs dream of a business suitable for any Soviet Republic:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It got so bad last December that President Obama and Emanuel would joke  that, when it was all over, they were going to open a T-shirt stand on a  beach in Hawaii.
