Assert yourself . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.therealestatebloggers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Royce of The Real Estate Bloggers<\/a> pointed me to <a href=\"http:\/\/sethgodin.typepad.com\/the_dip\/\" target=\"_blank\"><i>The Dip<\/i>, Seth Godin&#8217;s forthcoming book<\/a> about the barriers that arise between the euphoria of a great idea and its realization &#8212; and why it&#8217;s sometimes wise to quit when you&#8217;re behind.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the part that is of immediate, local interest. Matt LaPrairie came up with the novel idea of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pledgebank.com\/sethgodin\" target=\"_blank\">mounting a pledge campaign to get Seth to speak about the book in Phoenix<\/a>. The commitment:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I will pay $50 to hear Seth Godin speak in Phoenix and receive 5 copies of his new book, <i>The Dip<\/i>, but only if 499 other people in the Phoenix area will do the same.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So far, only 68 people have made the pledge.
