{"id":13455,"date":"2010-11-01T22:24:15","date_gmt":"2010-11-02T05:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=13455"},"modified":"2010-11-01T22:24:15","modified_gmt":"2010-11-02T05:24:15","slug":"developing-the-perfect-content-map-for-your-real-estate-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/13455\/developing-the-perfect-content-map-for-your-real-estate-blog\/","title":{"rendered":"Developing The Perfect Content Map For Your Real Estate Blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-13456\" title=\"Real Estate Maze\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Real-Estate-Maze-e1288674832987.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notorious-rob.com\/2010\/10\/21\/seo-the-real-estate-blog-and-competition\/\" target=\"_blank\">debates<\/a> about whether or not a real estate blog should be considered a solid foundation for a single agent to develop a realistic business model on, there are still many <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.homegain.com\/blogging-and-social-networking\/6-reasons-real-estate-agents-should-care-about-blogging\/\" target=\"_blank\">benefits<\/a> of publishing content on a site you own&#8230; provided everything is organized properly.<\/p>\n<p>I follow the CopyBlogger school of thought for designing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.copyblogger.com\/landing-pages\/\" target=\"_blank\">strategic landing pages<\/a> to ensure my target audience gets the exact information they&#8217;re looking for when they hit my sites for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>While I do feature categories and tags in non-prominent areas of the footer or custom sidebars, I try to keep my main informational points of interest flowing from the top down in order to respect the time my readers have to spend online.<\/p>\n<p>Homeowners and new buyers can easily get overwhelmed with the hundreds of details they may need to be aware of when it comes to the mortgage or real estate process.<\/p>\n<p>One simple answer can easily lead them to five other questions that they didn&#8217;t know they needed to be asking.<\/p>\n<p>Designed with the big picture in mind, your blog can effectively lead someone through their fact-finding mission in a painless and strategic manner.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, articulating this complex home buying thing in a manner that non-industry people can understand is great way to build trust with your potential clients.<\/p>\n<p>Agents are obsessively consumed with &#8220;<em>Personal Branding<\/em>&#8221; to the point where buyers have to invest valuable seconds of their life on a site sifting through awards, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myfhamortgageblog.com\/mark-madsen\/\" target=\"_blank\">testimonials<\/a>, twitter feeds and media interviews before they can find a page that actually addresses their real needs and concerns.<\/p>\n<p>However, I feel industry blogs have come a long way in the past five years.<\/p>\n<p>But, we need to get better at focusing on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.homeownershipuniversity.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">homeownership education<\/a> if we&#8217;re truly going to impact a positive change in our local real estate markets.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example of my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myfhamortgageblog.com\/mortgage-101\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mortgage 101<\/a> section, which has significantly increased in stickiness since I took out the sidebars and customized the page layout to serve as more of a site index with a purpose.<\/p>\n<p>My ultimate goal is to be able to send borrowers and agents to my mortgage blog without <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/13455\/developing-the-perfect-content-map-for-your-real-estate-blog\/#more-13455\" class=\"more-link\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Regardless of the recent debates about whether or not a real estate blog should be considered a solid foundation for a single agent to develop a realistic business model on, there are still many benefits of publishing content on a site you own&#8230; provided everything is organized properly.
