{"id":13550,"date":"2010-11-08T20:21:37","date_gmt":"2010-11-09T03:21:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=13550"},"modified":"2010-11-09T10:30:58","modified_gmt":"2010-11-09T17:30:58","slug":"mama-grizzly-knows-sumptin-its-sunset-for-low-mortgage-rates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/13550\/mama-grizzly-knows-sumptin-its-sunset-for-low-mortgage-rates\/","title":{"rendered":"Mama Grizzly Knows Sumptin&#8217;: It&#8217;s Sunset For Low Mortgage Rates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the things I love about the internet is that links last.\u00a0 For your soap-operatic pleasure, <a title=\"Sarah Palin\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/#!\/notes\/sarah-palin\/do-wall-street-journal-reporters-read-the-wall-street-journal\/453294443434\">Sarah Palin asks a national author if he read his own newspaper, when he criticized her remarks about inflation<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So, imagine my dismay when I read <a title=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/economics\/2010\/11\/08\/sarah-palins-qe2-criticism-includes-inflation-hyperbole\/?mod=e2tw\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/economics\/2010\/11\/08\/sarah-palins-qe2-criticism-includes-inflation-hyperbole\/?mod=e2tw\" target=\"_blank\">an article by Sudeep Reddy<\/a> in today\u2019s <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> criticizing the fact that I mentioned inflation in <a title=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/252715\/palin-bernanke-cease-and-desist-robert-costa\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/252715\/palin-bernanke-cease-and-desist-robert-costa\" target=\"_blank\">my comments about QE2<\/a> in a speech this morning before a trade-association. Here\u2019s what I  said: \u201ceveryone who ever goes out shopping for groceries knows that  prices have risen significantly over the past year or so. Pump priming  would push them even higher.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Reddy takes aim at this.  He writes: \u201cGrocery prices haven\u2019t risen all that significantly, in  fact.\u201d Really? That\u2019s odd, because just last Thursday, November 4, I  read an article in Mr. Reddy\u2019s own <em>Wall Street Journal <\/em>titled \u201c<a title=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704506404575592313664715360.html?KEYWORDS=safeway\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704506404575592313664715360.html?KEYWORDS=safeway\" target=\"_blank\">Food Sellers Grit Teeth, Raise Prices<\/a>:\u00a0<em>Packagers and Supermarkets Pressured to Pass Along Rising Costs, Even as Consumers Pinch Pennies<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s common knowledge that Sarah Palin is a vacuous bimbo, who gathers her economic news from the Wasilla Women&#8217;s Club Newsletter, right ?<\/p>\n<p>Call me suspicious but I watched an <a title=\"amiable dunce\" href=\"http:\/\/reason.com\/archives\/2003\/11\/01\/the-gipper-and-the-hedgehog\">amiable dunce win the Cold War, without firing a shot<\/a>.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s just say I&#8217;m less inclined to question the intelligence of country bumpkin politicians, after living through Reagan, and am more inclined to second guess the propagandists at the major dailies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whodathunk Mama Grizzly would<a title=\"face\" href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=in%20your%20face\"> face<\/a> the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>, though?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mama Grizzly and Mama Brady know something about inflation; they do the weekly grocery shopping.\u00a0 When Mama Brady told me that our grocery budget had to be adjusted upwards, while I was remarking that our budgeted monthly fuel expenses had to be adjusted\u00a0 as well, I started thinking that inflation might just be around the corner- that&#8217;s not good for mortgage rates.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fact #1:\u00a0 The Federal Reserve&#8217;s printing press is cranking out &#8220;los dolares&#8221;, <a title=\"quantitative easing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/Business\/Mises-Economics-Blog\/2010\/1108\/QE2-101-How-the-Federal-Reserve-managed-to-print-money\">after the first-run edition didn&#8217;t work<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Fact #2:\u00a0 M1 has <a title=\"m1\" href=\"http:\/\/www.forecasts.org\/m1.htm\">grown some 20%<\/a>,in the past two years.<\/li>\n<li>Fact #3:\u00a0 The Fed points to the <a title=\"M1 money multiplier\" href=\"http:\/\/research.stlouisfed.org\/fred2\/series\/MULT\">M1 Money Multiplier<\/a>, and says &#8220;<a title=\"reamin calm, all is well\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zDAmPIq29ro\">remain calm; all is well<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li>Fact #4:\u00a0 M3 is no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/13550\/mama-grizzly-knows-sumptin-its-sunset-for-low-mortgage-rates\/#more-13550\" class=\"more-link\">Read more<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the things I love about the internet is that links last.\u00a0 For your soap-operatic pleasure, Sarah Palin asks a national author if he read his own newspaper, when he criticized her remarks about inflation: So, imagine my dismay when I read an article by Sudeep Reddy in today\u2019s Wall Street Journal criticizing the [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":15,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_crdt_document":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[8,26],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-13550","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"hentry","6":"category-investment","7":"category-lending","9":"no-featured-image"},"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack-related-posts":[{"id":10448,"url":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/10448\/wheres-that-inflation\/","url_meta":{"origin":13550,"position":0},"title":"Where&#8217;s that inflation?","author":"Damon Chetson","date":"November 29, 2009","format":false,"excerpt":"I've been saying for a year now that inflation is down the road.
