Festivus&#8230; all that stuff.\u00a0 Lovely&#8230; now let&#8217;s get down to business.\u00a0 I&#8217;m buying a house.\u00a0 Along the journey, I&#8217;ve paid close attention to how the average Real Estate Agent operates.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sharing these thoughts with my fellow Bloodhounds at the risk of offending some &#8211; or perhaps all &#8211; of you.\u00a0 But it all comes from the right place and I hope you enjoy&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Commandment #10:\u00a0 Have a freaking take.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Are you the type of Real Estate Agent who likes to open doors for clients and then stand silently with a pleased expression as they walk through the home?\u00a0 If so, I suggest you consider a <a href=\"http:\/\/limodriverschool.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">new profession<\/a>.\u00a0 Look, I want to know what YOU think about a home too&#8230; that&#8217;s one of the reasons I hired you.\u00a0 I might agree with you, I might not.\u00a0 But when you have a take, you engage in\u00a0critical dialogue with your clients.\u00a0 In my case, I&#8217;d trust you more if you tell me what you don&#8217;t like about something.\u00a0 It would make me feel like you&#8217;re looking out for me.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Commandment #9:\u00a0 Don&#8217;t tell me you&#8217;re a Top Producer.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Because if you are, I probably know that already and all it sounds like is bragging (which most of the time&#8230; it is).\u00a0 Just let your work do the talking for you.\u00a0 Oh, and here&#8217;s just a bit of a peeve&#8230; if you&#8217;re in the &#8220;Million Dollar Club&#8221; is that really something worth crowing about anymore?\u00a0 What is that&#8230; 3, 4, maybe 5 houses a year?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Commandment #8:\u00a0 Avoid this question:\u00a0 &#8220;So what do you want to do?&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This commandment is closely associated with #10 above.\u00a0 One agent I was working with loved to interrupt me with that magical question and eventually I told her what I wanted to do:\u00a0 fire her.\u00a0 Instead of asking what your client wants to do (which, by the way, they could easily figure out without your counsel)&#8230; you ought to continue tossing ideas\/suggestions at them.\u00a0 And if you REALLY want to impress your clients, give them the upside and downside with every suggestion you make.\u00a0 Then listen.\u00a0 Simple.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Commandment #7:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/13847\/the-ten-commandments-of-buyer-side-representation\/#more-13847\" class=\"more-link\">Read more<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Merry Christmas.\u00a0 Happy Hanukkah.\u00a0 Happy Kwanzaa&#8230;
