{"id":16059,"date":"2012-07-18T16:05:47","date_gmt":"2012-07-18T23:05:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=16059"},"modified":"2012-07-18T16:05:47","modified_gmt":"2012-07-18T23:05:47","slug":"san-diego-real-estate-a-cacophony-of-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/16059\/san-diego-real-estate-a-cacophony-of-data\/","title":{"rendered":"San Diego Real Estate &#8211; A Cacophony of Data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love the scene from the &#8220;Princess Bride&#8221; where they undergo a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=U_eZmEiyTo0\">battle of wits.<\/a> Very funny scene, and way too reminiscent of popular conversations regarding the housing market in general and the San Diego housing market specifically.<\/p>\n<h2>So, How&#8217;s the Housing Market Doing in San Diego?<\/h2>\n<p>There&#8217;s no shortage of data or opinions, of course. \u00a0Here a just a couple of places and opinions I found interesting and potentially useful. \u00a0First, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dqnews.com\/Articles\/2012\/News\/California\/Southern-CA\/RRSCA120717.aspx\">Here&#8217;s DataQuick&#8217;s (OMG lengthy) view of the San Diego data.<\/a>\u00a0 Quite a bit of stuff in here, all of which seem to indicate that the San Diego market might be <em>recovering slightly<\/em>. \u00a0But right on the heels of the DataQuick report is an article from MSNBC, a report that has\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bottomline.msnbc.msn.com\/_news\/2012\/07\/17\/12727332-americas-sickest-housing-markets?lite\">\u00a0a <em>rather dim view of San Diego&#8217;s recovery<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, with my own opinions of the San Diego market in my head I reviewed a couple of local real estate experts to see what they thought. <a href=\"http:\/\/sandiegocastles.com\/sandiegohomeblog\/hitting-bottom-barstow-and-scripps-ranch-market-times\/\">First a take on one of the neighborhoods in San Diego by Kris Berg.<\/a>\u00a0 Her numbers are easier for me to read than DataQuicks, and no one likes to be called a sick real estate market by anyone. \u00a0And here&#8217;s our good friend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/renewsblog\/2012\/06\/27\/theres-a-crucial-difference-between-doing-an-analysis-and-being-an-analyst\/\">Jeff Brown with his take on analyzing real estate data<\/a>. \u00a0Jeff is speaking to the choir in me when he talks about analyzing. \u00a0He is asking if the data and the way it is analyzed is as important at the analyst doing the organizing.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0My Take on San Diego Real Estate<\/h2>\n<p>My opinion comes after this concerto, aptly named &#8220;Cacophony&#8221;, but sweet music to my ears, and which I&#8217;ll explain below. \u00a0Listen to this now.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VbAn4OvAaP0?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"460\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Pretty cool stuff, huh? \u00a0A cacophony of sounds, but your head and your heart allow you to analyze and put these sounds together so that they not only make sense, but are appealing and fun to spend time with.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Which Brings Me to My Opinion on the San Diego Real Estate<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Market<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>When you want to know if there&#8217;s gas in the coal mine&#8230;.you send down a bird.<\/li>\n<li>If you see smoke, you know&#8217;s there&#8217;s fire&#8230;.but how hot is that fire?<\/li>\n<li>If it walks, quacks and&#8230;you know&#8230;.it&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/16059\/san-diego-real-estate-a-cacophony-of-data\/#more-16059\" class=\"more-link\">Read more<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I love the scene from the &#8220;Princess Bride&#8221; where they undergo a battle of wits.
