It needs it. The event may not house or clothe anybody or do much to dramatically change even one life, but Chargers-Texans is this city&#8217;s game, and if it can be played here \u2013 and it can be \u2013 it should be. It belongs where it was intended.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to agree with him on this.\u00a0 Anyone who doubts the healing power of Sport wasn&#8217;t at Game 1 of the <a title=\"game 1\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2001_World_Series\">2001 World Series<\/a>.\u00a0 I stood in Bank One Ballpark, with tears streaming down my face, and sang &#8220;God Bless America&#8221; with NYC firefighters and EMS workers.\u00a0 We hugged, bought each other beer, jeered each other&#8217;s teams, and celebrated the fact that our country was not only standing but ready to rise from the rubble.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I knew the damn game was meaningless.<\/strong>\u00a0 I secretly wanted the Yanks to win so that The Big Apple would have a shot in the arm but they lost the Series in what could be described as on of the top five World Series in history.\u00a0 The Diamondbacks won the only way it could be won; in seven games, right through the best team in baseball.<\/p>\n<p>For 10-12 days, America healed.\u00a0 We threw our arms around each other and diverted our eyes from that <strong>obscene<\/strong> smoking hole in Lower Manhattan.\u00a0 We vowed to build higher, dream bigger, and soar like our national bird.<\/p>\n<p>The Knights of Columbus in Solana Beach <a title=\"knights\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kofc12749.com\/\">is holding its annual Spooky Knights party for the kids, as planned, on Saturday evening<\/a>.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll pray for the families affected, talk about how to help each other, and try to start the healing process.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re anywhere near Solana Beach, stop in on Saturday; the first cold one is on me.<\/p>\n<p>Qualcomm Stadium, <a title=\"q\" href=\"http:\/\/activerain.com\/blogsview\/248821\/Safe-in-SoCal-for\">the preferred Brady address<\/a> last Monday, <a title=\"qualcomm\" href=\"http:\/\/www.signonsandiego.com\/news\/metro\/20071026-9999-1n26qual.html\">is clearing out<\/a>.\u00a0 <a title=\"chargers\" href=\"http:\/\/canadianpress.google.com\/article\/ALeqM5gJYWkUOEo3cuvZlS3-jYuHvgnAng\">We\u00a0are going to have this football game&#8230;HERE.<\/a>..in San Diego.\u00a0 This game is meaningless but this event is monumental.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"bolt\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lee_Hamilton_(sports)\">Show me your lightning bolt<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>More updates on the San Diego County <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/2105\/san-diego-fires-i-wanna-hear-from-a-chargers-fan\/#more-2105\" class=\"more-link\">Read more<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nick Canepa, of the San Diego Union Tribune, wrote that the game must go on this weekend and that it must be held at Qualcomm Stadium: San Diego deserves this football game.
