{"id":2211,"date":"2007-11-14T11:57:31","date_gmt":"2007-11-14T18:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=2211"},"modified":"2007-11-14T11:57:31","modified_gmt":"2007-11-14T18:57:31","slug":"feng-shui-its-all-chinese-math-to-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/2211\/feng-shui-its-all-chinese-math-to-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Feng Shui&#8230; It&#8217;s All Chinese Math To Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve been putting\u00a0clients into my car and\u00a0cruising the streets of\u00a0Chicago for nearly a decade\u00a0now; the first\u00a0three years as\u00a0a leasing agent, the remainder as an actual\u00a0dues paying realtor. I estimate that I\u2019ve\u00a0personally shown over 10,000 properties\u00a0to almost 2,000 different people; a few\u00a0of whom were clinically certifiable and dozens\u00a0more on top of that, just plain peculiar. I laugh <em>and<\/em> cringe out loud (which I suppose would be <em>COL<\/em>) when I think back on some of the\u00a0screwy scenarios I&#8217;ve witnessed or been a party to. Such, as they say, is life in <em>this <\/em>big city.<\/p>\n<p>There was the lady who peed in the back seat of my car, the last cloth seat vehicle I\u2019ll ever own. <em>COL.<\/em> There was the fairly well-dressed gentleman\u00a0who came in just before the close of business\u00a0one evening, adamant about\u00a0seeing one of our rental listings\u00a0(posted in the lobby window) on the far north side of\u00a0Chicago.\u00a0\u00a0A half hour later he bolted from\u00a0my car as I was attempting to parallel park\u00a0in front of\u00a0the property\u2013-a free ride home to the neighborhood being his sole intention all along.<\/p>\n<p>Then, there was the transvestite\u00a0who couldn\u2019t stop weeping because she had just been dumped by her lover\u2013poor thing.\u00a0I took her into a Starbucks to calm her down and everyone\u00a0in the place ended up\u00a0staring at <em>me<\/em>. And perhaps the most memorable of all was the woman and her \u2018attorney\u2019 who\u00a0stormed into\u00a0the lobby of our \u2018Free Apartment Finding Service\u2019 (or so read the sign on the awning), demanding\u00a0the \u2018free\u2019 apartment.\u00a0\u00a0But to be fair,\u00a0most of the above episodes occurred in the earliest days of my career when I was known to befriend any man\u00a0who\u00a0happened\u00a0through the door\u00a0with a need for housing and the first month&#8217;s rent to back it up.<\/p>\n<p>My\u00a0thoughts today, however,\u00a0drift back to\u00a0a middle-aged\u00a0Mandarin couple\u00a0I met earlier in this year and what they taught me about showing property to people more spiritual than myself.\u00a0After several\u00a0times out in the car we finally came up with a very short list of townhomes they could possibly live with (or even walk <em>into<\/em>, for that matter). They insisted\u00a0we meet at sunrise to view\u00a0all the\u00a0listings in which they expressed any <em>serious<\/em> interest.
