Again.<\/p>\n<p>After having failed to get his Open MLS initiative on the 2007 Maine ballot, he said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openmlsinstitute.org\/en\/art\/?7\">this<\/a> in February of this year:<\/p>\n<p><em>Early returns from an initial 2 month effort to collect signatures for the Maine Open MLS Initiative show it heading toward being the most popular initiative in Maine history, with over 80% voter support. To date 14,000 of 55,087 required signatures have been collected. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Upon collecting 55,087 signatures, the Open MLS Initiative will appear on the Maine ballot for the November 2008 election.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Right.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Inman reports he&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inman.com\/inmanstories.aspx?ID=65418\">walking away<\/a> from the effort.\u00a0 Apparently Maine voters are a bit skeptical of putting someone\u2019s career ambitions up to a popular vote.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a tendency of MAR to take credit due to their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mainerealtors.com\/OpenMLSFAQ.pdf\">$200 special assessment<\/a>.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 It failed because it was a seriously dumb idea <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maine.gov\/sos\/cec\/elec\/pets02\/leg-realestate.htm\">badly written<\/a>, and people are much more discerning than we sometimes give them credit.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, Barry is for the time being retiring from the suing and initiative grind to concentrate on a providing agents and consumers a new lead generation system.<\/p>\n<p>Can.
