{"id":2746,"date":"2008-03-10T21:04:27","date_gmt":"2008-03-11T04:04:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=2746"},"modified":"2008-03-10T22:33:37","modified_gmt":"2008-03-11T05:33:37","slug":"nar-and-the-use-of-mls-in-a-url","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/2746\/nar-and-the-use-of-mls-in-a-url\/","title":{"rendered":"NAR and the Use of MLS in a URL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve written about this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=2207\">before<\/a>. This is an issue that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.narwisdom.com\/2008\/01\/04\/free-the-mls-another-board-forbids-the-use-of-the-term-mls\/\">just isn&#8217;t going to go away<\/a>. Like most oppressive rules and laws this bad rule (at least as it is currently interpreted and practiced) was a sincere attempt to solve a problem. Unfortunately, the current rule creates a whole new type of problem. The solution is the new problem.<\/p>\n<p>Should any misleading or deceitful statement statement be permitted on a website? No and the NAR Code of Ethics already covered that. But this issue &#8211; at least as it now stands &#8211; is a good example of &#8220;an innocent dolphin caught in a tuna net&#8221;. The very idea that an NAR committee came up with a restriction for Realtors that our competitors &#8211; who are trying to put us out of business &#8211; don&#8217;t have to follow is just absurd.<\/p>\n<p>NAR will have no ability whatsoever to stop, inhibit, or prevent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freethemls.com\/\">anyone BUT Realtors<\/a> from using the term &#8220;MLS&#8221; in their URL. He has talked with her and another long time member of that subcommittee named Ted Kelly. They both seem to feel that to be in violation of the new COE&#8217;s Article 12 that a member&#8217;s intent would be very important, i.e. are you trying to pass yourself off as &#8216;THE&#8217; MLS. Mr. Kelly gave Bill Cliff Niersbach&#8217;s name who is some sort of NAR VP to talk with.
