{"id":2797,"date":"2008-03-18T16:33:32","date_gmt":"2008-03-18T23:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=2797"},"modified":"2008-03-18T16:33:32","modified_gmt":"2008-03-18T23:33:32","slug":"bloodhound-by-choice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/2797\/bloodhound-by-choice\/","title":{"rendered":"Bloodhound by Choice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was working with a local real estate agent yesterday on a strategy to achieve one of his goals.\u00a0 When we were done he declared the strategy good and decided that, barring any bad luck, success might just find him this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>A few weeks back I was driving my two boys to school.\u00a0 They are without doubt the most beautiful boys in the world and I speak with the absolute neutrality of an objective father.\u00a0\u00a0At five and seven they are also completely present.\u00a0 By that I mean they live in the here and now the way most children do.\u00a0 The recent past has no more meaning than the near future.\u00a0 Their focus and their conscience are in the moment.\u00a0 It fills them with a constant sense of wonder and never ceases to amaze me.<\/p>\n<p>So we are in the car and singing along to the radio when my seven year old sits up in the back and asks: &#8220;Daddy, do you believe in good luck?&#8221;\u00a0 As an adult long separated from the freedom of childhood, I was twelve different place in my head when he asked the question and none of them were the present.\u00a0 I absent-mindedly tossed off one of my favorite sayings to placate him.\u00a0 &#8220;No,&#8221; I said, &#8220;I believe that the <em>harder<\/em> I work, the <em>luckier<\/em> I get.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>My son, however, pressed on.\u00a0 &#8220;I believe in good luck Daddy, but I do not believe in bad luck.&#8221;\u00a0 At this point I was blissfully reminded, once again, how very present children are and I snap out of my own thoughts.\u00a0 I too get present and I pay attention.\u00a0 I say to him &#8220;I do not think you can have one without the other.&#8221;\u00a0 (At this point I must share a little background.
