{"id":2847,"date":"2008-03-28T18:18:15","date_gmt":"2008-03-29T01:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=2847"},"modified":"2008-03-28T18:18:15","modified_gmt":"2008-03-29T01:18:15","slug":"whats-your-six-month-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/2847\/whats-your-six-month-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s Your Six Month Plan?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every now and then I get to talk to someone just coming into the real estate business or contemplating the move.\u00a0 My initial response is often a surprise to them but I bet many of you would agree with me when I tell them, \u201cGreat!\u00a0 This is the best time to get into real estate.\u00a0 If you come in with a good plan, establish the right habits and market consistently you will become a producer while times are tough and a star when times are good.\u201d\u00a0 They usually look at me a little crooked and then smile.\u00a0 I guess they have a lot of people telling them they should have their head examined for going in when so many are getting out.\u00a0 Maybe they should, but I always found the party a lot more fun after the <em>wanna-be\u2019s<\/em> and <em>coulda-beens<\/em> were done posing and said their good-byes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Three Questions<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>\nFollowing my response the potential new agent will inevitably tell me about their past experience and how it gives them a great sphere of influence in which to market.\u00a0 They share with me their personal motto about discipline and the pledge they gave their cousin &#8211; the copier salesman &#8211; to never stop marketing.\u00a0 I applaud all of this.\u00a0 Mottos and pledges and enthusiasm are all important, maybe even indispensible.\u00a0 But the first admonition about coming in with a good plan, the one they missed, is the most important.\u00a0 Where is your business plan?\u00a0 I have yet to hear: \u201cI agree with you Sean.\u00a0 I have a business plan written out and I am excited to begin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So here are the three questions I pose to all new agents:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Why do you want to become a real estate agent?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a written business plan?<\/li>\n<li>What is your six month plan?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The first question is really just a leading question designed to get people to open up and talk about their passion.\u00a0 If you do not have a passion for some aspect of this business it is going to be awfully tough to work through the rejections.\u00a0 The second question is meat and potatoes.\u00a0 I call it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/2847\/whats-your-six-month-plan\/#more-2847\" class=\"more-link\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every now and then I get to talk to someone just coming into the real estate business or contemplating the move.\u00a0 My initial response is often a surprise to them but I bet many of you would agree with me when I tell them, \u201cGreat!\u00a0 This is the best time to get into real estate.\u00a0 [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":36,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_crdt_document":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,5],"tags":[123,121,122],"class_list":{"0":"post-2847","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"hentry","6":"category-general","7":"category-real-estate","8":"tag-sba-question","9":"tag-six-month-plan","10":"tag-three-legs-of-marketing","12":"no-featured-image"},"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack-related-posts":[{"id":2857,"url":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/2857\/black-pearl-marketing-minute-hour-your-first-six-months-as-a-real-estate-licensee-use-your-time-now-to-make-money-then\/","url_meta":{"origin":2847,"position":0},"title":"Black Pearl Marketing Minute Hour: Your first six months as a real estate licensee &#8212; use your time now to make money then","author":"Greg Swann","date":"March 30, 2008","format":false,"excerpt":"For years I lectured at the pre-licensing classes of the the college professor who taught my own real estate pre-licensing classes.
