{"id":7066,"date":"2009-02-24T13:39:25","date_gmt":"2009-02-24T20:39:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=7066"},"modified":"2009-02-24T13:42:52","modified_gmt":"2009-02-24T20:42:52","slug":"the-butcher-the-banker-the-candlestickmaker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/7066\/the-butcher-the-banker-the-candlestickmaker\/","title":{"rendered":"The Butcher, The Banker, The Candlestickmaker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maybe it&#8217;s just me, but I can&#8217;t help but to think that it&#8217;s deja vu all over again.\u00a0 Is it really 1980 again? \u00a0 Congress appears to have stolen a page from the Conservative&#8217;s play book &#8211; but with a twist.<\/p>\n<p>It seems trickle-down economics applies as much to government spending as do tax cuts to the rich, yet with the latest infusion of hundreds of billions of dollars poured into the most powerful corporations &#8211; America&#8217;s largest banks and insurance companies, we have yet to see much of a trickle &#8211; less a drop.<\/p>\n<p>TARP did in fact keep the economy dry.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the irony of it all &#8211; to me at least &#8211;\u00a0 is that the so-called &#8220;Socialists&#8221; also see virtue in starting at the top &#8211; fork over billions to the most powerful to get the engine running again &#8211; the proof is not quite in the pudding pie, Georgie.<\/p>\n<p>From my perspective, the deluge is starting at the bottom.\u00a0 My email has been flooded with comments from my condo association regarding the complications my neighbors are facing in the sale of their condo.\u00a0 Economic circumstances are hitting very close to home &#8211; my neighbors, one of whom is a fellow Realtor &#8211; directly below me in my building &#8211; is in dire need of selling their home.\u00a0 Our association has a first right of refusal clause which deems FHA financing impossible.\u00a0 My neighbor has been soliciting the board and fellow owners that an amendment in our bylaws is required to make the sale of their home possible to more buyers.<\/p>\n<p>I was amazed at some of the comments from fellow neighbors concerned about the &#8220;quality&#8221; of potential buyers who <em>only<\/em> qualify for 3.5% down &#8211; I could only chuckle thinking that some existing owners were able to buy with 0% down 3 years ago.\u00a0 Where&#8217;s there equity now?<\/p>\n<p>One neighbor argued that we want to prevent a short sale &#8211; moreover a foreclosure &#8211; from impacting the values of existing homeowners.\u00a0 I&#8217;m pretty sure he didn&#8217;t read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/local\/chi-foreclosure-blightfeb22,0,874184.story\" target=\"_blank\">The Chicago Tribune on Sunday<\/a> &#8211; there was an article about the substantial increase of foreclosures <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/7066\/the-butcher-the-banker-the-candlestickmaker\/#more-7066\" class=\"more-link\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maybe it&#8217;s just me, but I can&#8217;t help but to think that it&#8217;s deja vu all over again.\u00a0 Is it really 1980 again? \u00a0 Congress appears to have stolen a page from the Conservative&#8217;s play book &#8211; but with a twist.
