{"id":7071,"date":"2009-02-25T09:00:49","date_gmt":"2009-02-25T16:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=7071"},"modified":"2009-02-25T08:10:25","modified_gmt":"2009-02-25T15:10:25","slug":"getting-paid-to-be-motivated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/7071\/getting-paid-to-be-motivated\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting Paid to be Motivated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t know about the rest of you, but I love marketing.\u00a0 I love figuring out a theme and creating the copy and running a campaign.\u00a0 What I have a lot more difficulty with is <em>prospecting<\/em>.\u00a0 The daily grind of converting people who haven&#8217;t met me into people who want to <a title=\"Marketing to be Mayor\" href=\"http:\/\/lifethatpops.com\/2008\/02\/14\/real-estate-blogging-to-be-mayor\/\" target=\"_blank\">elect me mayor<\/a>.\u00a0 I read posts by <a title=\"Real Estate Brokerage is Rocket Science - NOT\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=6943\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff Brown<\/a> and <a title=\"The Resistance is Where the Action Is\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=6844\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Johnson<\/a> and I get all fired up like when I was a stock broker: 200 calls a day and all the throat lozengers you can swallow.\u00a0 Then I&#8217;ll read something by <a title=\"HEAP Specific Contact Form\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=7016\" target=\"_blank\">Greg Swann<\/a> or <a title=\"Referral Prospecting the Facebook Way\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=6987\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Brady<\/a> and I&#8217;m speeding down the 2.0 path toward Social Media Marketing Mecca.\u00a0 But at the end of the day (actually the beginning of the day for me), I still need to do the basics: phone calls, emails, letters and so on.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got HEAP running some of that for me and I use Facebook and I&#8217;m usually bleeding <em>somewhere<\/em> from all my efforts to skin cats!\u00a0 It&#8217;s a whole lot to digest on the salary we&#8217;re paid&#8230; Oh yeah, we&#8217;re not paid a salary.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve got to keep all those balls in the air AND wait for the big pay days when an escrow finally does close.\u00a0 Come on&#8230; admit it: sometimes a little daily motivation would help.<\/p>\n<p>Lately, I&#8217;ve been monetizing my efforts.\u00a0 Nothing ground breaking here; just some good old fashioned methods for spicing up the day.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re looking for a little more excitement, give this a try.\u00a0 (<em>Warning: involves a little bit of math.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t DO math, or you&#8217;re already sufficiently motivated by the repo guy outside the door&#8230; skip this post now and save yourself the headache<\/em>.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>One for the Money<\/strong><br \/>\nKnow your dollar figures.\u00a0 There are two dollar figures I care about: What is my average Gross Commission Income (GCI) per transaction? and What monthly\u00a0 income do I expect?
