{"id":7214,"date":"2009-03-01T08:02:07","date_gmt":"2009-03-01T15:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=7214"},"modified":"2009-03-01T08:02:07","modified_gmt":"2009-03-01T15:02:07","slug":"stimulating-ideas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/7214\/stimulating-ideas\/","title":{"rendered":"Stimulating Ideas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m just spitballing here but I think two simple (and temporary) actions could stimulate the economy and save the auto industry:<\/p>\n<p>1-<a title=\"suspend payroll tax\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pjtv.com\/?cmd=video&amp;video-id=1380&amp;media-id=4799&amp;chapter-id=525\">Suspend the payroll tax for a period of time<\/a>. (not my idea but I like it)<\/p>\n<p>2- allow a one-time, tax and penalty-free withdrawal, up to $25,000, from 401-k plans, for the purchase of a new vehicle , until December 31, 2009 (my crazy idea)<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMMENTARY:<\/strong> The payroll tax supports a bankrupt system; social security.\u00a0 The faster we all accept that fact, the better.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s take what&#8217;s left in the plan, commit the balance to everyone over 60, and stop the insanity.\u00a0 Most anyone under 45 hasn&#8217;t expected to receive social security entitlements for ten years, now.<\/p>\n<p>Allowing a one-time 401-k plan withdrawal will certainly &#8220;mortgage our future&#8221; but <a title=\"mortgage our future\" href=\"http:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2009\/POLITICS\/02\/13\/sanford.economy\/index.html\">we&#8217;re doing that already<\/a>.\u00a0 The Industrious Eileens will invest in the automakers (through their 401-k)\u00a0 and the Spendthrifty Sams will jump at the chance to buy a new car.\u00a0 At least the individuals will be deciding what to do with THEIR money.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m just spitballing here but I think two simple (and temporary) actions could stimulate the economy and save the auto industry: 1-Suspend the payroll tax for a period of time.
