{"id":7331,"date":"2009-03-06T09:30:21","date_gmt":"2009-03-06T16:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=7331"},"modified":"2009-03-06T07:47:18","modified_gmt":"2009-03-06T14:47:18","slug":"epiphany-marketing-and-rocky-road-ice-cream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/7331\/epiphany-marketing-and-rocky-road-ice-cream\/","title":{"rendered":"Epiphany Marketing and Rocky Road ice cream&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have talked about and written on <a title=\"Mayoral Marketing\" href=\"http:\/\/lifethatpops.com\/2008\/02\/14\/real-estate-blogging-to-be-mayor\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mayoral Marketing<\/a> before.\u00a0 The basic premise of marketing, according to this theory, is to build a community of people who would elect you mayor.\u00a0 This concept leads to some useful details on <em>how<\/em> we should go about marketing in order to accomplish this election.\u00a0 (Hint: it&#8217;s a campaign)\u00a0 The problem though, is that Mayoral Marketing explains the <em>how<\/em> of marketing, but not the <em>why<\/em>.\u00a0 I know, the &#8220;why&#8221; seems obvious: the goal of marketing is to generate potential clients and closed transactions, right?\u00a0 Wrong.\u00a0 That&#8217;s the objective; that&#8217;s the end result to be gained.\u00a0 But the question of &#8220;why&#8221; is a question of purpose.\u00a0 Does everything that makes up the <em>how<\/em> lead to the objective.\u00a0 In other words: what is the actual GOAL of our marketing?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7337 alignleft\" title=\"Epiphany\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/light-bulb.jpg\" alt=\"The Epiphany Moment\" width=\"86\" height=\"95\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The goal of marketing is to place us with the potential client at the moment of <em>epiphany<\/em>.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s call this Epiphany Marketing.\u00a0 What am I talking about?\u00a0 Most people don&#8217;t just suddenly decide to buy or sell a house.\u00a0 Usually, something else happens; they&#8217;re walking along when all of a sudden:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They hear that cousin Bernard just bought a house.\u00a0 BAM! (moment of epiphany)\u00a0 &#8220;If my dopey cousin Bernard can buy a house, I certainly can.&#8221;\u00a0 At which point the good marketer wants to figuratively (if not literally) be standing right there in front of them.<\/li>\n<li>They meet with their CPA and find out how big their tax liability is for the year.\u00a0 BAM!
