If you don’t know who Tony Hawk is,\u00a0 you either:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. aren’t a “skater”<\/li>\n
  2. don’t have teenage boys<\/li>\n
  3. don’t have kids that watch Zach and Cody<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I hadn’t been on Twitter in a couple of months so I checked out my Tweet stream the other day.\u00a0 I don’t know how I found him but I saw @tonyhawk and decided to follow him (he’s local).\u00a0\u00a0 I logged into Twitter again tonight to follow back people following me.<\/p>\n

    In my Tweet Stream was a message from @tonyhawk.\u00a0 As I scrolled down, I noticed that he was having an “Easter Board<\/span> Deck Hunt<\/a>“.\u00a0 Tony autographed skateboards, hid them around the country, and was “tweeting” clues for people to hunt them down.\u00a0 Tweetpics of lucky kids in NYC, LA, NorCal,\u00a0 and TX were popping up.\u00a0 Then, I saw this Tweet, from @tonyhawk:<\/p>\n

    1. http:\/\/twitpic.com\/38w0b<\/a> – NOBODY knows where Del Mar Skate Ranch was!!?? I’m sad. Well here is another picture clue.<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      I started thinking that I recognized that picture; it was near Pelly’s Mini Golf.<\/a> I googled “Del Mar Skate Ranch<\/em><\/a>” and found out that it was less than a mile from my house.\u00a0 Immediately, I clicked through to the twitpic clues, grabbed my wife and daughter, and hopped in the car to find the elusive Tony Hawk board<\/span> deck.\u00a0 When we arrived at the site of the old skate park, a dozen fathers and their kids were running out of their cars and hunting through the vacant lot.<\/p>\n

      I didn’t find the last Easter board<\/span> deck; a cute kid around my daughter Maggie’s age did<\/a>.\u00a0 It was a fun and frenzied hour.<\/p>\n

      What can we learn from this? <\/strong> Tony Hawk has some 300,000 followers on Twitter.\u00a0 Can you imagine using his celebrity in your promotional efforts?\u00a0 How about someone else?\u00a0 I once suggested that Shawna Ebersole recruit Peyton Manning to promote her new site<\/a>.\u00a0 What if he “tweeted” links to it, once a month? (he’d have to sign up first<\/a>)<\/p>\n

      Shaq tweets<\/a>.\u00a0 Perhaps Greg Swann could have\u00a0 arrange for Shaq to sit an open house with him to sign autographs.\u00a0 If Shaq tweeted the address to his 600,000 followers, the place would be swamped.\u00a0 Okay… Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
