{"id":8579,"date":"2009-06-01T18:03:21","date_gmt":"2009-06-02T01:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=8579"},"modified":"2009-06-04T18:54:15","modified_gmt":"2009-06-05T01:54:15","slug":"can-a-realtor-truly-be-a-consumer-advocate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/8579\/can-a-realtor-truly-be-a-consumer-advocate\/","title":{"rendered":"Can a REALTOR Truly be a Consumer Advocate?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My query is sincere.\u00a0 But first, I want to make a distinction between a REALTOR and a licensed real estate agent.\u00a0 NAR tells consumers to seek the counsel of REALTOR &#8211; in fact, make sure they are working with a REALTOR, leading consumers to believe that a licensed real estate agent and REALTOR are synonymous.\u00a0 They are not.<\/p>\n<p>A REALTOR is a licensed real estate agent who is also a\u00a0 member of the National Association of REALTORs, who&#8217;s mission is:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>The core purpose of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS\u00ae is to help its members become more profitable and successful. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Clearly absent from the mission is any reference to the consumer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The vision of the National Association of REALTORS is equally insightful:<\/p>\n<p><em>The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS\u00ae strives to be the collective force influencing and shaping the real estate industry. It seeks to be the leading advocate of the right to own, use, and transfer real property; the acknowledged leader in developing standards for efficient, effective, and ethical real estate business practices; and valued by highly skilled real estate professionals and viewed by them as crucial to their success. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Working on behalf of America&#8217;s property owners, the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS\u00ae provides a facility for professional development, research and exchange of information among its members and to the public and government for the purpose of preserving the free enterprise system, and the right to own, use, and transfer real property.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I find NARs Vision statement to be interesting.
