{"id":9547,"date":"2009-08-19T09:31:46","date_gmt":"2009-08-19T16:31:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/?p=9547"},"modified":"2009-08-19T13:17:11","modified_gmt":"2009-08-19T20:17:11","slug":"social-medias-dirty-secret-its-not-about-you-its-not-about-marketing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/9547\/social-medias-dirty-secret-its-not-about-you-its-not-about-marketing\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Media&#8217;s Dirty Secret: It&#8217;s Not About You, It&#8217;s Not About Marketing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Realtor\u00ae Fantasy that is part of social media fascinates me.<\/p>\n<p>Social Media &#8220;experts&#8221; have attitude that if you&#8217;re cool enough, transparent enough, and seem to care enough, a brinks truck full of money will be backed up to your door, you&#8217;ll get on the cover of a National Real Estate Magazine, and you&#8217;ll be given the recognition that you&#8217;ve always wanted.<\/p>\n<p>Your &#8220;personal bland&#8221; will dominate the landscape and you will become the recipient of tickertape parades all across the country.<\/p>\n<p>As if.<\/p>\n<p>We are&#8230;salespeople.\u00a0 We have intimate relationships with people&#8217;s finances.\u00a0 We must sell people on our own competence.\u00a0 Not coolness.\u00a0 We must sell people on the idea that we care.\u00a0 And, buddy, that doesn&#8217;t happen when we &#8216;drip&#8217; on them.\u00a0\u00a0 We must truly be caring and competent, or else we&#8217;re screwed.\u00a0 And we&#8217;ve gotta convey it.\u00a0 (Dan Melson again comes to mind).<\/p>\n<p>There is no Search Engine technique that will cause the web to organize itself to have presold buyers slobbering to pay us 6 percent on something.\u00a0 There &#8216;s no blogging technique that will eliminate the need for someone to answer questions and be a fiduciary<\/p>\n<p>We&#8230;are salespeople.\u00a0 Social media is just a way of meeting, reaching, helping and working with fun people.\u00a0 It&#8217;s nothing more than that.\u00a0 Your marketing is probably generating leads.\u00a0 Your leads can&#8217;t be sent to AMEX to pay the bill.<\/p>\n<p>But are you closing them?\u00a0 Are you reaching out to demonstrate-definitively&#8211;that you are their best and most caring option?\u00a0 That you have sharpened your skills to navigate this market.\u00a0\u00a0 Probably not.\u00a0 And that&#8217;s where the problem lies.\u00a0\u00a0 You are not selling.\u00a0 You are not reaching out, risking rejection and trying to help.\u00a0 And despite the cries that people have that they &#8220;don&#8217;t wanna be sold to.&#8221; \u00a0 They &#8220;don&#8217;t wanna be sold to&#8221; by a moron.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t be a moron.\u00a0 People need someone to take charge.\u00a0 They need some expert in Real Estate, Mortgage or wherever to just get the damn thing moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>When you&#8217;re building a &#8220;you-centric&#8221; personal brand, website that is bereft of information that your friends might want&#8230;you&#8217;re not selling.\u00a0 Your social media is not selling.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloodhoundrealty.com\/BloodhoundBlog\/9547\/social-medias-dirty-secret-its-not-about-you-its-not-about-marketing\/#more-9547\" class=\"more-link\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Realtor\u00ae Fantasy that is part of social media fascinates me.
